How We Got Our Start
5280 Pit Lighting was founded in 2021 by the father-son team Wayne & Nathan Appelhans. The idea started at Colorado National Speedway when a friend showed us his first setup, but the mounting options didn’t hold up to wind, rain, or long race nights. We saw a better way — so we built one. From there, we developed a rugged mounting system and crafted pit lights built to withstand the harshest conditions. As word spread, our reach expanded beyond Colorado, leading to track partnerships across Colorado and Kansas. Today, we also offer opportunities to become a dealer, giving racers and small businesses a chance to bring our lighting solutions to their own communities.
